Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa said Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is unlikely to be a serious IPL 2026 title contender despite their aggressive batting. He cited a weak bowling lineup, flat Hyderabad pitches, and past failures to defend totals as key concerns, emphasizing that strong bowlers, not just big hitters, are crucial for winning the trophy.
New Delhi: The former India cricketer Robin Uthappa believes Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is 'not a serious title contender" in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) despite having an aggressive batting lineup.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Uthappa explained why SRH's aggressive batting approach won't be enough for them to lift the IPL trophy.
"SRH's aggressive batting is entertaining to watch. But batting like that won't help them win the IPL. Their bowling is a bit on the weaker side. Bowlers are the ones who make you win the trophy," said Uthappa.
Shivam Mavi, Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, Harshal Patel and Nitish Kumar Reddy are the fast-bowling options of the SRH, with Harsh Dubey and Zeeshan Ansari leading the spin-bowling.
