IREDA Dividend Alert: There's big news for investors of the public-sector Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA). The company is planning to issue a cash dividend to its shareholders for the first time. Consequently, its shares may be in focus in the coming days. The company has announced that a decision on an interim dividend for the 2025-26 fiscal year may be made at its board of directors meeting on Wednesday, March 25th.

Under insider trading regulations, the company's trading window has been closed since March 12th, reopening 48 hours after the board meeting. According to SEBI regulations, when major news such as a dividend, profit sharing, or merger is imminent, the buying and selling of shares is suspended for those associated with the company to ensure fairness in the stock market and prevent unfair advantage.

This means that the company's board members, officers, and CEO know in advance how much profit the company has made and how much of it is planned to be distributed as dividends. To prevent those associated with the company from buying and selling shares in advance for significant profits, insider trading is prohibited.  

This is a historic moment for IREDA investors, as the company is announcing its first dividend since listing. This reflects the company's strong financial position and its profitability. Along with the dividend, the board recently approved fundraising plans to raise ₹35,000 crore for fiscal year 2025-26 and ₹40,000 crore for fiscal year 2026-27.

IREDA is a Government of India-owned NBFC (Non-Banking Financial Company) primarily engaged in clean and green energy. It provides affordable and easy loans to companies for solar, wind, biomass, and hydropower projects. It also provides technical advice to help companies optimize new energy projects. IREDA is also investing in green hydrogen and EV charging infrastructure.
