The family and doctors were astonished by the baby's weight. The mother, identified as Jaya Das, is 27 years old and was admitted to the Satindra Mohan Dev Civil Hospital on June 17. Doctors noted that her due date was May 29, but due to certain circumstances, the family arrived at the hospital late.

Emergency Delivery

Dr. Hanif, who monitored the case from the beginning, mentioned that he had advised her to come to the hospital on May 29. However, she arrived on June 17 in labor. This was her second child; her first was delivered via cesarean section. The woman did not undergo a final sonography, and her admission was deemed an emergency. A surgical team performed a cesarean operation at the government hospital on Tuesday.

Doctors' Astonishment

After the operation, when the baby's weight was checked, the doctors were left in disbelief. The baby weighed 5.2 kilograms, which was unexpected. Dr. Hanif stated that they had no idea the baby would weigh that much, marking it as a unique case. This was also a late delivery. Fortunately, both mother and child are healthy. Typically, newborns in Assam weigh between 2.5 to 3 kilograms, making a 5-kilogram baby an extraordinary occurrence.

Dr. Hanif further explained that he consulted with several colleagues, but none had encountered a case like this before. Jaya Das and her husband, Badal Das, had their first child weighing 3.8 kilograms at birth, while their second child surprised everyone with a weight of 5.2 kilograms.
