A former BBC employee has appeared in court charged with allegedly possessing indecent images of children and depicting a sexual act with a dead or live animal.
Dylan Dawes appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Monday, according to Welsh broadcaster Newyddion S4C. Grey-haired Dawes was wearing a dark suit jacket and trousers with light blue shirt and striped grey tie. Charges brought against the former BBC Wales producer were three counts of possessing indecent images of children. He also faces a charge of possessing an extreme pornographic image or images depicting a sexual act with a dead or live animal.
The court heard the charges allege Dawes had the images in his possession on February 28, 2022.
Dawes attended court for the pretrial hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown, and he is due to stand trial at Cardiff Crown Court on April 7, with the case expected to last between three and four days.
According to Newyddion S4C, Dawes did not enter a plea during the hearing on March 16 and spoke only to confirm his name.
He was released on conditional bail and Judge Richard Kember set the trial date for April 7 in Cardiff.
Dawes is no longer a member of BBC staff.
