The biggest reason for postponing the release of the film is said to be the sudden demise of actor and singer Prashant Tamang. After his death in January 2026, the shooting of the film had a direct impact because he was playing the role of the main villain in this film. Many of his important scenes and action sequences were yet to be shot.
According to sources, due to the shooting of the film being incomplete, it was not possible to complete the post production on time, hence the makers were left with no option but to extend the release date. It is being said that Tamang had already shot some important scenes but many parts of the story remain incomplete.
Now the production team has two big options, first to re-shoot the remaining scenes with a new actor and second to complete his character with the help of modern technology i.e. VFX, however, adopting the path of VFX is not easy, it will require the permission of the family as well as a huge budget, which can increase both the cost and time of the film.
Another important reason for the delay of the film is considered to be Salman Khan’s busy schedule. Due to the change in the shooting schedule, it has become challenging to manage his dates again. Apart from this, maintaining the look and continuity of his character has also become a difficult task for the team.
This film was earlier in the news for its name. Initially, it was being made with the name of Battle of Galwan, which was later changed to War Rest in Peace in the Motherland. The story of the film is based on the conflict between India and China in the Galwan Valley in the year 2020.
The film is being directed by Apoorva Lakhia and Chitrangada Singh will also be seen in an important role.
At present, the makers are working on all possible options to complete the shooting as soon as possible. It is believed that a final decision can be taken by the end of this month so that the post production work can start. The new release date has not been announced yet but it is expected that the film can be released in theaters around Independence Day so that it can also benefit from the patriotic atmosphere.
