The inquiry surrounding the vanishing of Nancy Guthrie, mother of broadcaster Savannah Guthrie, has not yet yielded significant developments. However, a former FBI agent has hinted that an arrest might be on the horizon. Nancy, aged 84, was reported missing from her Tucson residence in early February, and authorities have not publicly named any suspects in the case.
Jennifer Coffindaffer, the former FBI agent, expressed her concerns on social media regarding the law enforcement's decision to decline help from civilian search teams. She questioned the rationale behind the refusal of assistance from experienced volunteer organizations, such as EquuSearch and the Cajun Navy. Coffindaffer speculated, "Is law enforcement close to making an arrest and aware of what happened to Nancy, hence not wanting to utilize these groups' resources?"
The Pima County Sheriff's Department, along with the FBI, is actively involved in the investigation but has not confirmed any potential arrests. Sheriff Chris Nanos mentioned that the inquiry has progressed beyond the individuals previously detained. He stated, "We believed we had probable cause to act against those individuals and their residence," and confirmed that the evidence was presented to legal authorities who approved the necessary warrants.
The investigation remains active, with law enforcement continuing to pursue various leads.
