New Delhi: The fierce conflict currently unfolding in the Middle East is impacting nations across the globe. While some countries are affected by direct attacks stemming from the war, others are facing economic repercussions. Consequently, there are indications that India’s ongoing trade relations with Iran are also being adversely affected. The escalating shortage of gas cylinders in India is being attributed to the conflict between the US and Iran.
However, the Central Government has denied the existence of any gas cylinder shortage. On the other hand, if you are concerned about potential disruptions to your gas cylinder supply, worry not. To resolve these issues, Gurugram has launched the country’s first “LPG ATM.” This machine functions much like a standard vending machine, offering a solution to your supply- woes.
Where has the LPG ATM been installed?
You will be pleased to learn that this smart LPG vending machine has been installed as a pilot project by Bharat Petroleum at Central Park Flower Valley in Sector 33, located in the Sohna area of Gurugram. Through this facility, you can procure a gas cylinder in just 2–3 minutes.
Consequently, you can now forget about waiting for a delivery—a process that may or may not happen on time. This machine offers you the opportunity to walk away with a filled cylinder without the need for any phone calls, booking slots, or specific delivery windows. All you need to do is complete a simple digital verification process. Officially launched two months ago under the name “BharatGas Insta LPG,” this LPG ATM has now been made accessible to the general public.

Learn how the machine works.
First, you must enter your registered mobile number on the machine’s screen.
Next, you will need to verify your identity by entering the One-Time Password (OTP) received on your mobile phone.
Place the QR code or barcode affixed to your empty cylinder in front of the machine’s scanner. The machine will then verify whether the cylinder is valid.
Once the verification is successful, a window on the machine will open.
You will then need to place your empty cylinder into that designated slot.
Subsequently, the machine will automatically check the cylinder’s integrity and weight before retracting it into the unit.
Finally, you will need to make the payment for the gas—at the price displayed on the screen—using UPI. Subsequently, once the payment is successful, a filled and sealed cylinder will be dispensed from the delivery window located on the other side of the machine.
For your information, this entire process takes a total of two to three minutes. Most notably, this system allows you to obtain only the 10-kilogram composite cylinders. These cylinders are significantly lighter compared to their iron counterparts. The machine has a capacity to hold a total of 10 cylinders at a time.
