There has been a big change in the politics of the state after serious allegations against Punjab Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. A new twist in this case came when the wife of deceased officer Gagandeep Singh told in the FIR that the minister had beaten and threatened her husband by holding him hostage at gunpoint. After this big revelation and the last video of the officer, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accepted the resignation of the minister.

The officer’s wife told in the FIR that on March 13, Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar had called Gagandeep to his personal residence in Patti (Taran Taran). There Gagandeep was locked in a room and held at gunpoint. It is alleged that the minister assaulted him and mentally tortured him severely. The minister forced Gagandeep to sign a paper and confess that he had taken a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to get the tender awarded to someone else.

Threat to destroy the family

The wife alleges that the minister threatened Gagandeep that if he did not obey him, his children and the entire family would be destroyed by gangsters. Not only this, he was also threatened that so many corruption cases would be registered against him that he would never be able to come out of jail. Due to this fear and humiliation, Gagandeep committed suicide by consuming poison.

The root of the controversy was the tender for a government warehouse. The minister wanted this tender to go to his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar’s firm. Gagandeep refused to do so citing rules as the firm was not meeting the standards. When the tender went to someone else, the minister considered it a personal defeat and started harassing the officer.

Secret of death revealed in video

Gagandeep recorded a video on his mobile just before he died which is now the biggest proof. He said, ‘Your friend ate sulfas out of fear of Minister Laljit Bhullar. Now I will not survive. He made it clear in the video that the pressure from the minister was so much that he had no option left but to commit suicide.

police action

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police have now registered a case against three main people. In this, former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar and minister’s PA Dilbagh Singh have been named. Police have registered a case against all these accused under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). In these, serious sections like Section 108 (abetment of suicide), Section 127 (wrongful confinement), Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and Section 351 (criminal intimidation) have been imposed. The police is now closely investigating every legal aspect of this case.

Said- will not perform the last rites

Gagandeep’s family is currently in deep shock and is adamant for justice. His wife has clearly said that until the former minister and his associates are arrested, they will not allow the post-mortem or cremation of the body. Opposition parties have also cornered the government on this issue and demanded that mere resignation is not enough, but all these accused should be immediately sent to jail so that the victim’s family can get justice.
