In summer, along with keeping the body hydrated, it is also necessary to keep it cool. In this season, instead of drinking only water, some healthy drinks should be included in your daily diet. In Indian homes, many types of *sharbat* are made in summer, which not only fulfill the lack of electrolytes in the body but also provide energy. These drinks not only keep the stomach cool, but also help in protecting from heatstroke and improving digestion. Different types of *sharbat* have their own health benefits. So, to get relief from the heat, instead of drinking straight water, opt for refreshing *sharbat*. In this article, we will share some popular *sharbat* recipes that you can try this summer.


Wood apple syrup

Drinking wood apple juice is an excellent option during the summer season, as it keeps the body cool and also protects from heat stroke. It is beneficial for digestion and also keeps the skin healthy. To make it, extract the pulp of a ripe wood apple and mash it well. Then, add water and ice cubes. Add wood apple pulp as per taste and sweeten with jaggery or sugar. Finally, add a pinch of black salt, black pepper powder and roasted cumin powder.

Sattu sherbet

Sattu *sharbat* is also a great option in summer. To make it, add sattu powder to a glass, add ice cubes and water, and shake well. Then, add finely chopped onion, green chilli and lemon juice. Prepare it by adding roasted cumin powder and black salt. It’s rich in protein and delicious!


rose syrup

In summer, rose syrup gives a feeling of freshness and comfort. To make it, you can buy rose syrup from the market or make the syrup by boiling desi rose petals in water. Filter this water and add sugar and lemon juice to it. Mix some rose essence and keep it in a glass jar. Prepare rose syrup instantly whenever needed.

Vetiver syrup

Khus sherbet is very beneficial in keeping the body cool in summer. To make this, wash khus roots and boil them in water. Boil it for at least 20 minutes. Then, add sugar to it and cook until it thickens. When the syrup is ready, add food color and poppy essence to it. Whenever you feel thirsty, drink this syrup mixed with cold water.


Fennel syrup

Soak fennel seeds in water overnight. The next day, put them in a blender and make a paste. Then, prepare syrup by adding threaded sugar candy to this paste. When the syrup is ready, mix it with milk or water to make a refreshing sherbet.
