As soon as the message is opened, a 15-minute countdown will start and as soon as the time is over, the message will be automatically deleted from both sides. If the message is not opened, it will automatically expire after 24 hours.
The feature is still in testing phase
Currently this feature has been seen in Android beta version 2.26.12.2 of WhatsApp. However, currently it is only in the testing phase and has not been made available to common users. The company may soon roll it out for all users.
