The IPL 2026 will get underway this Saturday, March 28, with the Rajat Patidar-captained RCB hosting SRH in Bengaluru.
The RCB fans are pumped up manifold this year compared to previous years: for the first time RCB will enter the tournament as defending champions, having won their maiden IPL trophy last year by beating Punjab Kings in the final in Ahmedabad.
Every year, the RCB fans patiently await the pre-season RCB Unbox event, which is hosted at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In the event, activities are arranged during which players interact with the fans, the jersey is launched, and the RCB Hall Of Fame inductions are announced; there’s dance, music, and lots of fun.
IPL 2026: When is the RCB Unbox event 2026?
As of Monday, March 23, there is no official update regarding the RCB Unbox event ahead of the IPL 2026. It’s possible that the RCB Unbox event may not happen this year.
Earlier, fans had speculated that the event would be hosted on March 20 or March 22, but it wasn’t. Neither RCB’s social media handles nor any inside sources have spoken about the unbox event.
RCB will play four matches in phase 1 of the IPL 2026, including the tournament’s kickoff fixture wherein they will host the Ishan Kishan-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy Stadium this Saturday.
RCB’s next match will also be at home, on April 5, against fierce rivals Chennai Super Kings. Patidar’s team will be on the road for their third and fourth matches: against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on April 10 and against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 12.
Meanwhile, franchise icon and former skipper Virat Kohli recently reminisced about getting his hands on the IPL trophy that had eluded him for 18 years.
Kohli said, “It was a very special night for all of us at RCB. I have been here since day one and so has Ramesh Mane (Team Masseur and Caretaker). We are probably the oldest members of the RCB group.”
The 37-year-old is the only player in the IPL history to play all 18 seasons (now 19) for a single franchise. But he hadn’t lifted the trophy until last season.
Kohli recalled the moments as RCB inched toward sealing the final.
He added, “It was an amazing night for all of us. It was quite surreal for me honestly, quite unbelievable when it was all unfolding in the end. So many things flashed in front of your eyes. The whole journey for 18 years. All the ups and downs, all the good moments, bad moments. It’s like the accumulation of all of that is unfolding in front of you and that is going to happen in the next ten minutes. It’s a very difficult thing to explain. It’s a thing to experience. And that experience I will never ever forget.”
IPL 2026: When will Josh Hazlewood join RCB?
Josh Hazlewood will miss the first few matches of RCB in IPL 2026. Cricket Australia is monitoring the workload of its fast bowlers; therefore, the arrival of Hazlewood, Starc, and Cummins has been delayed. All three of them are likely to join their respective IPL teams in mid-April.
Hazlewood hasn’t played a single professional cricket match since November, missing The Ashes and the T20 World Cup owing to hamstring and Achilles injuries.
