The Uttar Pradesh Government on Monday approved a series of key decisions spanning agriculture, energy, urban development, and industrial growth, aimed at accelerating the state’s overall development. The decisions were taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

After the meeting, ministers including Suresh Kumar Khanna, Arvind Kumar Sharma, and Surya Pratap Shahi briefed the media.

Relief for Farmers

The government fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat at Rs.2,585 per quintal. Procurement will take place from March 30 to June 15 through 6,500 centres across the state. Farmers will also receive an additional Rs.20 per quintal to cover handling costs like unloading and cleaning. The procurement target has been set at 30 lakh tonnes, with expectations of reaching up to 50 lakh tonnes.

Major Push in Energy Sector

To strengthen power infrastructure, the Cabinet approved Rs.2,242.90 crore for developing a coal block in Jharkhand linked to the Ghatampur thermal power project (660 MW, three units). The project is expected to yield around 270 million tonnes of coal and may reduce electricity costs by nearly 80 paise per unit.

In a green energy initiative, the government announced plans to develop Gorakhpur as a “Solar City.” A 20 MW floating solar plant will be set up at Chilua Tal, covering around 80 acres.

Urban Development: 58 Cities to Go Smart

The Cabinet also approved the “Navyug Nagar Palika Yojana” to transform 58 cities—including 55 municipal councils and 3 nagar panchayats—into smart cities. The five-year scheme, with an outlay of Rs.145 crore, will prioritize urban bodies with populations above 1.5 lakh.

Key upgrades will include digital monitoring systems, improved drainage, one-day governance centres, theme parks, digital libraries, and conservation of heritage sites.

Boost to Industrial Growth

To promote industrial development, the state will develop industrial sheds for MSMEs under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, where developers will build and lease facilities.

Additionally, the Cabinet cleared projects such as an Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Centre in Sambhal and a 174.12-acre Multimodal Logistics Park in Greater Noida (Budhaki).

The government also approved the “Private Business Park Development Scheme” to boost service sector investments and strengthen industrial infrastructure.

Overall, these decisions reflect a comprehensive push to support farmers, expand energy capacity, modernize cities, and drive industrial investment across the state.
