News India Live, Digital Desk: Today a historic event has happened in the tech world which has removed the biggest obstacle that has been standing between Android and iPhone for years. Leading smartphone company Samsung has officially announced that its new Galaxy S26 series will now support Apple’s AirDrop. This means that now Samsung users will not need poor quality WhatsApp or any third-party app to send photos or videos on iPhone. This step is being seen as a major change in the history of mobile technology. Quick Share and AirDrop ‘united’ Samsung has updated its ‘Quick Share’ feature and added AirDrop Interoperability to it. After this software update, which will be rolled out from March 23, 2026, Galaxy S26 series smartphones will be able to share files directly with iPhone, iPad and MacBook. The special thing is that it will not require any internet connection, because it works on peer-to-peer (P2P) technology. After Google’s Pixel 10, Samsung has become the second brand to break into this exclusive ecosystem of Apple. How will this new feature work? To avail this feature, Galaxy S26 users will have to go to the phone’s settings and enable ‘Share with Apple devices’ in the ‘Quick Share’ option. On the other hand, iPhone users will have to set their AirDrop to ‘Everyone for 10 minutes’. As soon as both the devices come close, the name of the nearby iPhone will appear on the screen of the Samsung phone. With a single tap, massive files, 4K videos and high-resolution photos will be transferred without any quality loss. However, for security reasons, Samsung has kept it off by default, which users can turn on as per their wish. Will older Samsung phones also get the benefit? Currently, this revolutionary feature is limited to Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra only. Officials at Samsung’s mobile division have indicated that it could also be released for older premium devices like the Galaxy S25 and foldable series through a software update (One UI 9) in the coming months. Tech experts believe that this ‘file-sharing agreement’ between Apple and Samsung is actually the result of pressure from the European Union and other global regulations, which are motivating tech companies to work with each other (Interoperability).
