'Luxurious' bedspread gives similar vibe to £230 White Company quilt but is £186 cheaper

One of the easiest ways to refresh your bedroom and brighten it for spring is to switch up your bedding or add a few new accessories. Cushions, throws, and bedspreads are a simple way to do it without having to replace all your covers and sheets, and right now is a pretty good time to invest, as there are plenty of seasonal sales running at places like Dunelm and Habitat.

That said, it was actually a bedding set at Dusk that caught my eye, mainly because it has a similar feel to a much more expensive option.

The Milan bedspread from Dusk has been reduced from £65 to £44, and shoppers have described it as "beautiful" and "luxurious", with a five-star customer satisfaction rating. And, for a limited time, if you use the code EXTRA15 at check-out, you can save an additional 15%. Now, I'm not saying it's identical, but it does give off a similar vibe to the Seville quilt from high-end brand The White Company.

What ties the two together is their texture and neutral tones, both of which help lighten and lift a space. The White Company version is, as you'd expect, white, while the Dusk option comes in silver and champagne (though the latter is full price). They're not quite as crisp as the white option, but they're still versatile shades that work in most rooms and help brighten your bedroom's overall look and feel. Both designs also bring in that textured finish, adding a bit of depth and shape to the bed in a subtle, Scandi-style way.

Where they differ is in the fabric. The Dusk version is made from a soft, velvet-like material, while The White Company leans more towards a breathable, summer-ready 100% cotton.

Then there's the price. The White Company bedding comes in at £230 for a double, whereas the Dusk bedspread is £186 cheaper (even more if you use the discount code). So if you like that textured look but aren't too fussed about the material, the Dusk option is clearly the more budget-friendly choice.

It's also had plenty of positive feedback. One shopper said: "Beautiful silver velvet throw for our king-size bed. Luxurious feel and lovely weight. Would definitely recommend."

Another added: "Love this cover; its quality is great and gives my room a luxurious vibe. It's got a soft velvet feel."

A couple of practical points are worth keeping in mind, though. While the Dusk bedspread is machine washable, it's not suitable for the tumble dryer, so it may take a bit longer to dry.

It's also a good idea to double-check the sizing against your bed, as it measures 2.5 x 2.6m. As one shopper noted: "Bigger than anticipated, but sizes clearly given, so my fault for not noticing. Lovely colour and smooth velvety material. Bargain too."
