The Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mayank Yadav shared how the Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah became a constant support to him during his rehabilitation in the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Notably, the 23-year-old Yadav had been having a recurring back issue since 2024. He even had back surgery, which ruled him out from the 2025 IPL too, as he failed to gain fitness.
In that time, Yadav was working at the Centre of Excellence, where he met Bumrah. Yadav recalled that he eventually had a good bond with Bumrah, as both were going through the same situation. Speaking to Jio Star's IPL Live Today, Yadav said,
"When I was in rehab at the NCA, Bumrah bhaiya was also there. I have a very good bonding with him. He is like a teacher to me. He also had the same surgery, the same scenario."
Yadav said that Bumrah shared his comeback experiences. Bumrah even gave an idea on how the body reacts during recoveries.
"Bumrah bhaiya shared his experience of how to come back after surgery and what things to pay attention to. He told me how the body will be during recovery, how it will react. Sometimes it will feel good, sometimes not. Whenever we talk on call or messages, he shares his experience as much as possible."

Mayank Yadav started to prioritize fitness post rehab
According to reports, Mayank Yadav can bowl with 90 to 100 percent intensity at this point. But Yadav has become cautious. Rather, he started prioritizing things, that are necessary for his physical health too. For example, the recovery sessions, which he often skipped before he was brought under the needle. Yadav shared,
"Everything has changed for me post-surgery. Earlier, I never used to take care of myself. Whenever I had to do a recovery session, I used to avoid it and neglect many aspects. But after the surgery, I paid a lot of attention to recovery, nutrition and sleep. The more I respect my body, the more my body respects me on the field."
Mayank’s raw pace first came to light when IPL coaches measured his speed using a gun. He often credits his fascination with fast bowling to watching Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn during his childhood, with his father regularly showing him videos of the two South African greats.
