West Bengal's supplementary voter list hit by server glitches, data unclear

Kolkata: The first supplementary list in West Bengal was published at 12 am last midnight and faces server issues and, in most cases, the pdfs, could not be downloaded on Assembly Constituency basis, showing errors, technical glitches and captcha error.

The total number of deletion or addition could not be quantified. No consolidated data of deletion or addition have been given by the Election Commission.

There are technical glitches and server issues and downloads are slow or in many cases, the pdfs cannot be downloaded.

Amid no clear indication about the total number of additions and deletions of the Supplementary lists, West Bengal CEO Manoj Kumar Agarwal said that he does not have the exact data about the deletion or addition. "I cannot comment on this," the CEO said. "In the initial stages, there are technical glitches. It will be resolved after a few hours. You can see it on the ECI website," Agarwal said.

BLO Adhikar Raksha Committee President Swapan Mondal said, “The servers have crashed completely. It cannot be downloaded from the website from last night with multiple snags. The BLOs can download I some places. However, the hardcopies will be given from the District Magistrates, who are DEOs, from today evening.

Following e-signing by 705 judicial officers under the Calcutta High Court, the list was uploaded and made available in the ECI net portal, the West Bengal CEO’s website, and the DEO’s website. Hard copies will also be provided by the DEOs to BLAs of various political parties and common people whose names have been deleted or added, people in the know said.

The Supplementary list is accessible on the WB-CEO’s website and DEO websites, while hard copies will be available at DEO offices and with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).

As of 4pm on Monday, a total of 29 lakh cases had been disposed of, according to the CEO. However, the exact number to be included in the first supplementary list after e-signing is not yet known.

Adjudication has been largely completed in Kalimpong, Jhargram, and Purulia and Bankura districts.

Meanwhile, Trinamool minister and candidate Firhad Hakim said that there is an attempt to mislead people. "No proper list could not be found and no consolidated data could be deciphered," Hakim said.
