Reports of petrol and diesel shortages in Gujarat are completely baseless, the state government has clarified. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi assured that there is adequate fuel stock available across the state and appealed to citizens not to panic or crowd petrol pumps unnecessarily.

The government stated that fuel supply and stock levels are being reviewed daily to ensure uninterrupted availability.

Strict action against rumour-mongers and black marketers

Harsh Sanghavi urged people not to spread misinformation on social media and warned that strict legal action will be taken against those circulating rumours. He also said that authorities will act firmly against black marketing of petrol and diesel.

Officials have confirmed that proper arrangements are in place to maintain smooth fuel supply across all cities.

Petrol Association dismisses shortage claims

Backing the government’s statement, Petrol Association president Arvind Thakkar said that oil companies have sufficient stock and there is no directive to limit fuel sales.

Out of 210 petrol pumps in Ahmedabad, only 2–3 faced temporary shortages, while supply at the remaining outlets continues as normal. He urged the public to ignore rumours.

Impact of rumours across districts

Surendranagar: Panic buying was reported in areas like Limbdi, where long queues formed at petrol pumps as people rushed to fill fuel despite no immediate need.

Ahmedabad (Kankaria–Maninagar): The situation turned tense in several parts, with vehicle queues stretching up to 1–1.5 km. Police had to step in to manage crowds.

Ahmedabad (Drive-In Road & Danilimda): Heavy rush was witnessed, with people waiting up to an hour, causing inconvenience.

Kutch and Bharuch: Long queues were seen in Bhuj, Mundra, Mandvi, Gandhidham, and Rapar, as well as Bharuch, even under the scorching afternoon sun. Former MLA and petrol pump owner Dushyant Patel confirmed that fuel tankers are arriving regularly and there is no shortage.

The administration has urged citizens not to hoard fuel and to purchase petrol or diesel only as per their actual requirement.
