The Delhi government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday presented the budget estimate of Rs 1,03,700 crore for 2026-27. This year's budget is more than last year's budget of Rs 1 lakh crore. Rekha Gupta called it a 'green budget' which focuses on long-term protection of the environment and balanced development. In the budget he has allocated money for almost every sector. He said in his speech that free gas cylinders will be given to people in Delhi on the day of Holi and Diwali.
The Chief Minister said that I am happy to announce that we have made special efforts to meet the needs of Delhi. This time we have presented Delhi's budget as 'Green Budget'. We have looked at every scheme from the environmental perspective. Every scheme of this budget has an impact on the environment, every scheme has an impact on nature and the concerns of future generations have been taken into account in every decision. That is why we have allocated 21% of the entire budget for 'Green Budget', which will be spent on environmental improvement.
Cylinder will be available for free
Special attention has been given to health and education sectors in the budget. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who is the Finance Minister, said that her government is allocating Rs 12,645 crore for the health department. Delhi government has allocated Rs 260 crore in its budget to provide two free LPG cylinders to every household. One cylinder will be given on the occasion of Hindu festival Holi and one on Diwali.

The budget has estimated tax revenue of Rs 74,000 crore and has allocated Rs 11,666 crore to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which is the highest allocation made to the civic body so far.
