Satta Sammelan: Sourav Ganguly narrated an interesting story of his mother, told why she wears so many garlands?

Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly became a part of TV9's special program Satta Sammelan 2026. Fans were extremely eager to see and hear the former Indian captain at this event and Ganguly did not disappoint anyone. Sourav Ganguly also talked openly about his career and his post-retirement commitments. During this, Ganguly narrated an interesting anecdote, which was related to his mother and revealed why he wears so many garlands around his neck.

Anyone who has seen Sourav Ganguly playing knows that he always used to wear a lot of garlands around his neck. When asked about this, Ganguly gave a funny answer. He told, "My mother made me wear these garlands, it brings God's blessings. Whenever I used to go to play, my mother used to take the chain from me 6 days before. Then in the morning before leaving, she used to put the chain around my neck again. Whenever I used to look, a new stone was added to it. I asked if all my stars were bad. Then mother used to say to wear it quietly, go to play and do not ask questions."

Brave captain, great batsman

Sourav Ganguly's contribution to Indian cricket is not hidden from anyone. He not only scored more than 18 thousand international runs in his long career but even more than that he is remembered for his captaincy. It was Ganguly who took over the captaincy of Team India, which was embroiled in the match-fixing controversy, in 2000 and took it to great heights with the help of strong leadership.

It was under his captaincy that Team India reached the final of the 2003 World Cup after 20 years. He is one of India's most successful Test captains. Ganguly played 113 test matches for Team India, in which he scored 7212 runs and scored 16 centuries. Out of these, he captained India in 49 test matches and India won 21 of them.
