New Delhi. In a bold action, the Special Staff Team of Central District of Delhi Police arrested a wanted and vicious robber Ajay alias Kalia after an encounter. A case of robbery of about Rs 85 lakh was registered against the accused in Shastri Park police station and he has been involved in many criminal incidents in Delhi as well as Uttar Pradesh. This entire action took place on the night of 23-24 March 2026 on Rose Garden Service Road near MG Road in IP Estate.

According to the police, on March 23 at around 10 pm, the special staff had received secret information that Ajay alias Kalia would come to meet his associates on a gray scooty around midnight and could commit a major crime. As soon as the information was received, a special team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Rohit Kumar and Inspector Raghuveer to monitor the ACP operations. The team reached the spot and surrounded it strategically and waited for the suspect to arrive.

At around 12:22 a person was seen arriving on a scooter, whom the informant identified as Ajay alias Kalia. The police signaled him to stop, but he tried to run away. When the road was closed, the accused got scared and left the scooter, took out his pistol and started firing at the police team. He fired four consecutive bullets, one of which hit Inspector Rohit Kumar’s bulletproof jacket, narrowly saving his life.

In self-defence, the police retaliated and fired at the legs of the accused, due to which he got injured and fell down. After this the police team controlled him and arrested him. During interrogation, he was identified as 34-year-old Ajay alias Kalia, resident of Gautampuri, Osmanpur. The injured accused was immediately admitted to LNJP Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Police have recovered an illegal pistol, live cartridges and empty cartridges, a stolen scooter and a mobile phone from the spot. Investigation revealed that the recovered scooter was stolen from Malviya Nagar police station. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections in the IP Estate police station and further investigation is underway. According to police records, Ajay alias Kalia is a habitual criminal and many cases of robbery, murder, theft and Arms Act are registered against him in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. This action not only averted a major crime, but also brought a dangerous criminal to justice. This brave action of Delhi Police is being appreciated.
