What people are drinking daily considering it to be healthy and nutritious are actually drinks filled with sugar. MP raising this issue in Parliament Raghav Chaddha He clearly said that the Indian consumer market is a victim of a big disease, which is known as misleading, branding and false advertising.

Consumers are being misled through attractive packaging and misleading claims. In such a situation, consumers are unable to understand that they are not drinking juice, but a drink filled with sugar and preservatives, which is causing many diseases.

The truth is hidden behind the packet

Raghav Chadha said that nowadays many juice packets available in the market have attractive pictures of fresh fruits printed on them, due to which the consumer feels that they are buying pure and nutrition-rich juice. But when the packet is read carefully, it is written in small letters on the back that ‘These pictures are for marketing purposes only.’ Actually, these products contain very less amount of fruits and more sugar, concentrates and preservatives.

Diseases caused by these drinks

Raghav Chadha said that this type of branding is having the biggest impact on the youth. They drink these drinks daily considering them to be healthy, but they do not realize that they are consuming excessive amounts of sugar. This can increase the risk of obesity, diabetes and other health problems.

Big questions raised from the government

Raising this issue in Parliament, Raghav Chadha asked many important questions to the government. He wanted to know what steps were being taken to stop misleading pictures and advertisements. Besides, he also asked whether any rule is being made to give clear information about excess sugar on the front of the product packet itself.

Raghav Chadha also said that consumers should be clearly told whether what they are buying is real fruit juice or a drink made with flavours, sugar and preservatives. After this issue is raised, it is expected that in the coming time, strict rules regarding packaging and labeling can be implemented.
