Doctor Who legend Tom Baker has gone viral on social media for a worrying reason. The 92-year-old BBC star, who brought the Fourth Doctor to life from 1974 until 1984, posted a video to commemorate 45 years since his final episode aired, but the way he worded the speech left fans worrying for the actor.
Tom posted the clip to his personal YouTube channel. It began with the words flashed on-screen: "45 years ago, the following words were spoken: 'It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for', followed by a clip of the star wrapped in his iconic stripy scarf from the sci-fi programme.
He held a sonic screwdriver as he told fans aloud: "Oh that's right, this is my sonic screwdriver - the key to all my great success. And, of course, you people who have watched me and clapped and kept clapping and sending me presents. It's been exciting actually."
He then said: "Yes. And goodbye and thank you all." It was this statement which left fans concerned, along with the famous quote from Doctor Who.
Taking to X, one fan tweeted: "I hope this isn't what I think it is..."
Somebody else said: "He's preparing us. I knew he would, but it SUCKS to see."
"Well that's not ominous at all..." a third followed up.
However, others said Tom looked "remarkably well" in the clip, with one writing: "He's fine lol. Actually looks in great spirits."
Someone else clarified: "I'm told it's the 45th anniversary of the Fourth Doctor's regeneration. If that's all it is, it could have been reassuringly more explicit..."
Tom originally worried fans back in 2022 when he appeared slightly thinner than usual - but four years later and he's still going strong.
He famously quipped in one interview when asked about his lasting legacy: "Oh, come on. Legacy is after people die, isn't it? Is he out of his mind? No, no, I have no intention of dying. None at all! God, it was such an effort to come into this world, but that's another story. No, no legacy."
