The government has rejected reports of payments for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This is an international sea route, for which there is no fee. Due to the current tension, the Indian Navy will provide additional security to the ships.
New Delhi: The Central Government has rejected reports that Indian ships are having to pay money to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The government has made it clear that India has not made any payment to any country for this. This is an international sea route, so no special permission is required to pass through here. However, in view of the current tense situation, some steps have been taken. In the coming days, the Indian Navy will provide security to more Indian ships. On this matter, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has also spoken to the Ambassador of Iran. At present, five Indian ships loaded with LPG are present in the Strait of Hormuz.
In fact, recently a report came in which it was claimed that Iran is preparing to collect huge fees from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the report of London-based 'Iran International', Iran has decided to collect transit fees of up to $ 2 million (about Rs 18.8 crore) from ships. The report quoted Alauddin Borujerdi, a member of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament, as saying that this fee shows the strength of Iran.
