Voters can look forward to lower council tax rises if Reform wins big in May's local elections. That's according to leader Nigel Farage on the Yorkshire leg of his UK roadshow. The Reform boss added councils run by Reform had already saved "tens of millions" of pounds. This was achieved by slashing "wasteful expenditure, unnecessary work and money being spent on DEI projects", Farage argued.
Big things are now expected of Reform ahead of local elections, which frankly only went ahead after Farage's party pressured the PM to reverse his anti-democratic postponement of said elections, ostensibly due to local government reforms. Farage is, of course, under pressure to deliver. While London will be tougher territory for Reform, much of the rest of the country remains extremely fertile ground.
According to PollCheck, Reform is on course to take control of Norfolk County Council, for example. Chairman David Bull expects Reform to win eight out of nine parliamentary seats in next door Suffolk.
Reform is therefore eyeing big gains. If it does, expect massive pressure on Sir Keir Starmer and the hapless Tories. Big gains set Reform up very well for the next election, likely bringing some Reform-curious voters over. The Farage then roadshow rolls on, but Reform will be expected to deliver.
