PNG Connection – Free Gas: The government is offering a special deal to individuals opting for new PNG connections. Under this scheme, consumers are being provided with free gas worth up to ₹500.

PNG Connection – Free Gas: Amid rising tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns regarding gas supply (the LPG gas crisis), the Central Government has taken a significant step to provide relief to common consumers. The government has launched a new scheme to promote Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections, offering direct financial benefits to customers. Let us now explain the details of this attractive scheme introduced by the government for PNG connections and identify who will benefit from it.

Major Discounts on New PNG Connections

The government, in collaboration with gas companies, is extending a special offer to those applying for new PNG connections. Under this initiative, consumers will receive free gas worth up to ₹500. Additionally, the security deposit typically required to obtain a connection will be waived. This benefit is available to customers who apply for a new connection by March 31st.

Who Will Benefit from This Scheme?

This scheme is open to all consumers wishing to obtain a new PNG connection. It is expected to be particularly beneficial for residents of urban areas, where the pipeline network is currently being expanded at a rapid pace. Furthermore, special provisions for additional discounts have been made for residents living in multi-story buildings or housing complexes. Discounts will also be applicable if a large group of residents from a single locality or building applies for PNG connections collectively.

24-Hour Operations: Faster PNG Connection Delivery

The government has implemented several measures to accelerate the expansion of the PNG network. In Delhi, pipeline laying operations can now be carried out around the clock (24 hours a day). Additionally, the road restoration fee—a charge typically levied for repairing roads dug up during pipeline installation—has been waived; this will facilitate smoother operations for gas companies and ensure that consumers receive their connections more quickly. Moreover, the government has also simplified the application process for obtaining a PNG connection. A notification has been issued to streamline the application fees and deadlines for this purpose. In recent times, hundreds of thousands of new connections have been issued, and a large number of people are shifting from LPG to PNG.
