An Emmerdale icon was rushed to hospital after suffering a "bad fall" which resulted in her needing surgery. Lisa Riley, 49, took to social media today (March 25) to thank the NHS and staff at Leeds General Infirmary for treating her after she fell off a stool at her breakfast nook. She posed with one of her surgeons in a hospital gown and showed fans the sling protecting her arm after surgery.
Lisa said: "OUR NHS IS INCREDIBLE. I have to massively thank my specialist surgeon Mr Daniel Thornton at LGI Leeds hospital and all the beautiful team, every single one of you who treated me this afternoon. I had a very bad fall over the weekend (no I'm sober, no drunk jokes), it was my extremely slippy breakfast stool and a woollen cardi.
"My left thumb took all of it, hence the massive damage. I have had my operation surgery, treating my UCL in my thumb [to repair it].
"NHS at its absolute best. Bye for now, I have some fantastic pain relief to take."
Her ITV soap co-stars rushed to send Lisa their love, with Amelia Flanagan, who plays April Windsor, writing: "Sending love!" with a red heart emoji.
Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt penned: "Sending love chick!"
While fans also headed to support Lisa, with one penning: "Oh no hope you heal quickly and your pain is manageable."
Another agreed: "My goodness! Lise, I can't believe it but really hoping the recovery and healing will be a few weeks tops. Take care and look after yourself."
