The 26-year-old sprinter from Punjab finished the race in 6.60 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 6.67 seconds established by Elakkiyadasan Kanadasan in 2018. The race was filled with excitement, featuring three false starts, the last of which resulted in the disqualification of Animesh Kujur, the national record holder for both the 100m and 200m events. Lalu Prasad Bhoi finished in second place with a time of 6.65 seconds, while Nuzrat secured the bronze medal with a time of 6.71 seconds.

Having previously set the national record for the 100m at 10.20 seconds in 2025, Gurindervir Singh is establishing himself as one of India's premier sprinters, showcasing his prowess in short-distance races.

In the women's 60m dash, Maharashtra's 22-year-old Harita Bhandra emerged victorious with a time of 7.32 seconds. Additionally, Saloni Nagar Kumari made headlines in the women's 400m by clocking 53.73 seconds, breaking the long-standing indoor record of 53.89 seconds set by Pinki Pramanik in 2005.

In the men's high jump, Swadhin Kumar Majhi took home the gold with a clearance of 2.18m, narrowly defeating Asian Championships silver medalist Sarvesh Anil Kushare, who cleared 2.15m. Dhairyshil Dhanaji Gayakwad finished third based on countback.
Reegan G made a notable debut in the men's pole vault, achieving a height of 5.30m, marking the best performance by an Indian in an indoor competition. He attempted to break the national record with a 5.41m jump but was unsuccessful.
