Heated exchange in Rajya Sabha: Heated debate between Jaya Bachchan and Speaker

New Delhi.On Wednesday, during the discussion on a bill to the transgender community in the Rajya Sabha, the atmosphere became heated when a heated argument was witnessed between Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan and Deputy Commissioner panel member Dinesh Sharma. During the debate, Jaya Bachchan expressed her dissatisfaction and even said that give as much time as you want, hang her, which created a stir in the House for some time.

Distracted while speaking, shows dissatisfaction

In fact, when Jaya Bachchan stood up to present her views on the bill, some members of the tense bench started talking amongst themselves. This distracted him and he stopped speaking midway. Expressing dissatisfaction, he said that when someone is speaking, others should pay attention. He also said that if someone else talks, the attention will be focused there and the speaker’s words will remain unheard.

Increase the atmosphere of debate and controversy with the speaker

The situation became more heated when Jaya Bachchan asked the Speaker that instead of interrupting him, action should be taken against those members who were creating obstacles. On this the speaker said that everyone is given a chance to express their views. But Jaya Bachchan did not appear to be an activist due to this and she said in a sarcastic tone that time is in your hands, give as much as you want, hang them, the weak people are being made dependent anyway. During this period, there were several heated exchanges between the two.

Opposition raised questions on the bill

Amidst this debate, the opposition parties termed this bill to the transgender community as unjust and demanded to send it to the Select Committee. Jaya Bachchan also raised the question as to what was the need to bring this bill during the budget session and said that there should be a comprehensive discussion on it. He said that this community is already socially weak and there should not be any kind of discrimination against it.

Allegations against the government, opposition face to face

Vaccination: Congress leader Saket Gokhale accused the government of taking the decision under pressure and being questioned on the issue. On the other hand, the ruling party hit back at the protests saying that when they were in power, they did not take any concrete steps for the community. There was a confrontational debate between the two sides on this issue.
