What is PQC?
Post-Quantum Cryptography i.e. PQC is an advanced security technology which is based on complex mathematical formulas. If you understand in simple language, it turns your phone’s data into a ‘digital lock’ which even super-fast quantum computers of the future will not be able to break easily. Google is preparing to include this technology in the bootloader of the phone, so that a stronger layer of security will be activated as soon as the device is turned on.
Why is this technology important?
In today’s time, smartphones are no longer limited to calling only. Works like banking, online payment and crypto transactions also depend on it. In such a situation, amidst increasing cyber attacks, this new feature can play an important role in keeping users’ data and devices safe. It has been specially designed to protect against future advanced hacking attacks and dangerous apps.
When can this feature be launched?
Google can present this feature to the world at the Google I/O event to be held in June 2026. Currently, the beta version of Android 17 has been released only for Pixel device users. If you want to download the beta version of Android 17, then for this you will have to register in the Android Beta Program. After this you can install it through the official website. However, keep in mind that the beta version may have some bugs and technical problems, so it would be better to use it only for testing.
