Ullal: A 40-year-old man was hacked to death by a group of assailants on the Thokkottu flyover in the early hours of Friday.
The deceasedd as Arif, a resident of Kinya Ajjinadka. According to preliminary information, the attackers intercepted the bike on which Arif was travelling and assaulted him with sharp weapons, inflicting severe injuries to the head, leading to his death on the spot.
Police suspect that the murder could be linked to personal enmity. Arif had been previously involved in criminal cases, with two cases registered against him in 2008. However, no cases had been reported against him in recent years.
In a related incident, Arif had earlier survived a murder attempt in 2022 near Uchila bridge. In that case, Naufal and his associates were arrested by the police.
On Friday, the assailants are believed to have waited for Arif on the flyover before blocking his movement and carrying out the attack.
Police officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Senior officers have also reached the location, and an investigation is underway. The exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
