A cat owner has captured the hilarious moment she caught her pet in the act.
Alexa Kaye shared footage of her pet who clearly had no idea she was being observed. The video, recorded in Alexa's bedroom, saw the cat perched on her dressing table going through every item and proceeding to knock them onto the floor. The clip closed with cheeky moggy staring straight at the camera as if to say, "What's the problem?" as Alexa joked: "She's just making sure gravity still works. I guess someone's got to do it."
Writing in response, one TikTok user quipped: "Fun fact. Cats are part of the gravity monitoring society. With out them we wouldn't know if loss of gravity was imminent. We thank you for your service in testing gravity is still working."

A second person declared: "Cats are ridiculous. Like what do they gain from this?"
While a third noted: "At least she was thoughtful enough to make sure that the bottle of serum landed on the lotion so it didn’t break... you should be thinking them."
A fourth person offered Alexa some advice, penning: "My cat does this when she's bored to all of the decorations on my tables. I use museum putty and now everything is stuck to the tables and she throws fits over it."
According to PetsMD, there are three reasons as to why cats like to knock things over. These are:
1. Instinct
"As predators, cats are hardwired to be attracted to things that dart past their line of sight," PetsMD explains. "It’s instinctual: Fast-moving objects are potentially something to chase, catch, and eat. Therefore the the simple act of pushing or batting items off counters and desks plays to this instinct."
2. Reinforced behaviour
PetMD continues: "No one loves their cat spilling a water glass onto the floor. But pet parents might be unknowingly reinforcing that behaviour by talking to their cat or picking them up when they go up to bat."
However, they point out that cats are quick learners and it doesn’t take long for them to figure out that when they begin pushing a glass closer to the table’s edge, their owners duly people respond and give them attention.
3. Boredom
Yes, your cat can feel bored and often those who have little stimulation in their surrounding environment may be forced to find ways of entertaining themselves. PetsMD adds: "And so when kitties are left alone for hours with nothing to do and no one to interact with, your trinkets will end up on the floor."
