Bengaluru: A minor boy allegedly stabbed a woman and her brother to death in Peenya’s Nelagadaranahalli area on Thursday following a dispute linked to an alleged illicit relationship, police said.
The victims have been identified as Yamuna (36) and her brother Sudeep (34), residents of Tigalarapalya. Police have taken into custody a woman named Chaya and her minor son in connection with the incident.
According to police, Yamuna’s husband Malle Gowda, who worked in a fabric company, was allegedly in a relationship with Chaya, who lived near their house earlier. Yamuna had reportedly warned Chaya several times to stay away and had also filed a complaint at Byadarahalli Police Station in the past.
Following the complaint, Chaya had shifted to a house in HMT Layout a few months ago, where she lived with her husband and son. However, police said the relationship between Malle Gowda and Chaya continued.
On Thursday morning, the minor boy allegedly called Yamuna to their house. Yamuna then asked her brother Sudeep, a private company employee, to accompany her. When they reached the house, an argument broke out between the two families.
Police said the situation escalated, and the minor took a knife from the kitchen and attacked Yamuna. During the confrontation, he allegedly used another knife to stab both Yamuna and Sudeep. Both victims died on the spot due to severe bleeding.
After the incident, locals alerted the police by calling the emergency helpline. The boy reportedly locked himself inside a room and refused to open the door. Police later brought his father to the spot, following which the door was opened.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Nagesh said the incident occurred due to ongoing disputes over the alleged relationship. A case has been registered at Peenya Police Station and further investigation is underway.
Sudeep’s relative said he had been married only a year ago and his wife is pregnant.
In a related development, Yamuna’s daughter reportedly attempted suicide after learning about her mother’s death. She is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
