After running successfully on &TV for over a decade, Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai is set for a major transition. The popular sitcom will move to an OTT platform , with sources indicating a shift to a finite, seasonal format on Zee5 , as the channel is likely to shut operations soon.
Confirming the development, lead actress Shilpa Shinde , who plays Angoori Bhabhi , said, “It is true that Bhabhiji will soon move to an OTT platform. The show will be available in a finite format and will continue in seasons. It is the channel’s flagship show, but somehow the masses are not aware of it now. Even after my return to the show in December, I still receive messages on social media from people saying they would like to see me back on Bhabhiji. Clearly, people are not aware that I have returned to the show. This has been under discussion for a long time, and I am glad that our show will continue on another platform. The new generation watches shows on their mobile phones.”
She revealed how the makers are planning to revisit the show’s original essence. “Viewers enjoyed the original concept, which revolved around two couples living next to each other and indulging in ‘taaka-jhaaki’ in each other’s homes. That concept was absent when I returned to the show because the script had changed. The ghoonghat ganj track was scrapped and makers are planning to return to the original concept, which was the flavour of the show. I am looking forward to this new development.”
