I tried Apprentice star's huge brand after boardroom bombshell - Lord Sugar was right

Tropic Skincare is a brand I've always been curious about after Susie Ma didn't win The Apprentice, but did impress Lord Sugar enough that her business received such a huge investment and turned her into a recognised business-owner. In April 2023, Susie was able to buy back the 50% stake from Lord Sugar's holding company, Amshold, returning to 100% ownership, so it's safe to say that the collaboration was quite the success. I've been looking back at some of the previous Apprentice contestants, and I've always been in awe of Susie, despite coming third, her success continued to skyrocket; so it was time to give her brand a try.

I received a box of goodies from Tropic filled with all sorts of items including Body Smooth, which was a product that Susie, 15 at the time, started the brand with back in 2004 at Greenwich Market. I mostly got their bestsellers, such as Skin Feast, Morning Mist (which smells amazing), and their Brightening Serum, to name a few. I did also get their Youth Potion, which I am so excited to use, but I'm pregnant and currently can't, so I wish I could tell you how I found that, but watch this space!

Also, I have no words for the fact that Susie made her Body Smooth at just 15 years old. That's a teen that means business, she knew what she was doing and what she wanted from an early age and for that alone she deserved that investment. I've been using that as my go-to body scrub and my skin just feels amazing, I'm fully on board with the entire Tropic brand, and to think that she didn't actually win the show, I'm blown away. It just goes to show that you don't always have to win what you thought you wanted to take home the grand prize.

Lord Sugar knows exactly what he's doing. He may have looked Susie in the eye and told her that she was fired, but he well and truly made up for it through his support over the years. She appeared on the show in 2011 and he invested £200,000 into the business which ultimately helped it grow into a multimillion-pound brand. He made the right call.

One thing I instantly loved about using all of these products is that from the packaging to the actual routine, everything feels professional and spa-like, it's not fruity and it doesn't smell heavily perfumed. I just felt like what was going on my skin was actually caring for it, well and truly. The toning mist smells so incredible and isn't heavy on the face at all, it honestly gives me the speediest refresh and I feel so much better for it. I had two of the serums, the Brightening Serum and the Rainforest Dew, which was just beautiful.

I've been using Tropic for about three weeks now, and I have to say I am fully obsessed with it. Sometimes I find that when you start using a new skincare routine things can really mess with your skin too and my face can sometimes go a little blotchy, this didn't happen at all with Tropic so I have to say I'm nothing short of impressed. I have no other words to explain it than spa-like, it feels like the products would be more expensive than they are, at the moment they're very much in line with the current market.
