New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to all the citizens to unitedly face the challenges arising due to the ongoing war in West Asia and said that everyone should be alert and should not fall prey to rumours.
Modi said in Mann Ki Baat that he is extremely grateful to the Gulf countries for providing all possible assistance to the one crore Indians living and working there. He said that war has been going on in our neighborhood for more than a month.
The Prime Minister said that this is undoubtedly a challenging time. Today, through the Mann Ki Baat programme, I once again urge the 140 crore countrymen that we have to come forward unitedly to overcome this challenge. I appeal to all my countrymen to remain alert and not fall prey to rumours.
The West Asia conflict began on February 28 when the US and Israel attacked Iran. After this, Iran retaliated by targeting America’s allies and Israel in its neighborhood.
Iran has blocked shipping on the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is a major sea route and 20 percent of the world’s energy is transported through it. Iran has allowed very few ships to pass through this route since the conflict began.
Since the war in West Asia began, Modi has spoken to several world leaders, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Iran, France, Israel and Malaysia. He has also spoken to US President Donald Trump. There was a telephone conversation between the two leaders on March 24. After the talks it was said that views were exchanged on the situation in West Asia.
