Sagar: A 30-year-old staff nurse allegedly attempted suicide by setting herself on fire in Sagar on Sunday.
The woman has been identified as Shwetha, a native of Sorab, who had been working at a private diagnostic centre in the city.
Following the incident, family members rushed her to a private hospital in Sagar, where she was given initial treatment. Due to the severity of her burn injuries, she was later shifted to a private hospital in Shivamogga. On medical advice, she was further referred to a hospital in Manipal for advanced treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest that domestic issues may have led to the incident. Police suspect that stress arising from family-related problems could have been a factor.
Shwetha’s condition is reported to be critical, and treatment is ongoing.
