In a significant political shift from Bihar, BJP's National President Nitin Nabin has stepped down as MLA from the Bankipur constituency, drawing the curtain on a two-decade-long legislative journey even as he prepares to transition to the national stage as a Rajya Sabha MP.

Announcing his resignation in an emotional message to constituents and party workers, Nabin framed the move not as an end, but as a continuation of public service in a larger role.

"All my family members and party worker comrades from Bankipur and Bihar," he began, recalling how his political journey was shaped by both personal loss and party faith. "After the sudden demise of my father in January 2006, the party gave me the opportunity to contest the by-election from Patna West, and on April 27, 2006, I was elected for the first time… marking the beginning of my social and political life."

From that first victory in 2006 to five consecutive terms in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Nabin built his political identity around continuity and constituency work. "Over the past 20 years, I have made continuous efforts to nurture, beautify, and advance this constituency… with a familial spirit on the platform of development," he said.

Positioning himself as both a grassroots leader and a legislative voice, he added, “Whether inside the House or outside, I have used both platforms to raise the voice of my area and the people of Bihar and to find ways to resolve their problems.”

Nabin also underscored the role of party leadership in shaping his administrative experience, particularly during his tenure as a minister under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

"Under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar ji, when the party gave me the opportunity to serve as a minister in the Bihar government, I succeeded in implementing several key decisions, policies, and schemes," he said, expressing gratitude for the opportunity.

At the heart of his message was a strong emotional connect with his constituency. "The workers have held my hand like a brother, a family member, and a guardian… I assure the people of Patna and Bihar that I will always honor the familial affection they have given me."

Making his decision explicit, Nabin stated: "Today, I am resigning from my position as the elected member from the Bankipur constituency of the Bihar Legislative Assembly."

Even as he exits the Assembly, Nabin signalled continuity in his political mission. "Through the new role the party has given me, I will remain ever ready and committed to the development of my area and Bihar," he said, adding that the "unbreakable bond" with workers and people would continue to guide him.

Looking ahead, he aligned his next phase with the broader national vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "I will continue to strive tirelessly toward realizing the dream of a developed India and a developed Bihar by 2047."

Signing off with a flourish that underscored both farewell and continuity, he wrote: "Salutations to Bankipur!! Jai Bihar!!"

With his resignation, Bihar BJP hands one of its seasoned state leaders a larger parliamentary canvas—marking both a generational transition and a recalibration of roles ahead of the next political cycle.
