A previous version of this article incorrectly reported that Mr Maloney had been jailed for breaching a court order. In fact, Mr Maloney, who pleaded guilty to breaching the court order, was given a six-month suspended sentence, with extra rehabilitation requirements and an increased financial penalty. We are happy to clarify this, and the article has been amended accordingly.
A paedophile has been handed a suspended sentence after he breached a court order - after the court heard he "flippantly" claimed "custody wouldn't prevent further offending". Brandon Maloney, 26, was slapped with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SPHO) and a suspended prison sentence in 2024 for engaging in sexual activity in front of a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual touching.
But Crewe Magistrates Court heard he has already breached that SPHO three times - and brazenly told a custody officer that locking him up will not stop his perverted desire. Magistrates handed Maloney a six-month suspended sentence alongside extra rehabilitation requirements after he pleaded guilty to breaching the court order.
JPs told Maloney, formerly of Runcorn, Cheshire, that his actions demonstrated a "flagrant disregard" for the original SPHO.
In October 2022, a 23-year-old Maloney was jailed for 28 months at Chester Crown Court after police discovered his disgraceful collection of sick child abuse material.
He was also found to have shared the vile images with other paedophiles on the internet and admitted three counts of distributing indecent images of children (IIOC), three of making IIOC, one of possessing IIOC and one of possessing extreme pornographic images involving animals.
Prosecutor in that 2022 case, Frances Willmott, explained how police executed a warrant at Maloney's Runcorn home in January of that year.
Officers seized two mobile phones, containing a sickening stash of child abuse images - and in total, the devices had 55 images of children in sexual situations, 29 of which were graded as the most severe category A.
Of the remaining 26, 25 were categorised as category B and one as category C. Police also discovered that Maloney had distributed nine images online with other paedophiles.
Maloney was also found to have been in possession of an extreme pornographic image portraying an act of intercourse with an animal.
Police also found evidence of sickening online chats Maloney had with another paedophile, including one where he said he "could not be trusted if he had a child that was a boy."
As well as jailing him, Judge Simon Berkson ordered Maloney to abide by sex offender registration and notification requirements for 10 years and an SPHO.
In March 2024, he was handed a 15-month suspended prison sentence at Chester Crown Court for engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a boy under 15, as well as inciting him to engage in sexual touching.
At the same hearing, he was also made subject to a new 10-year sexual harm prevention order (SPHO) by Judge Steven Everett - one stipulation said he must not delete messages from his phone, which was subject to regular inspection by police.
Now this month, Maloney has found himself back in the dock after magistrates heard that he had, in fact, deleted messages in December 2025 and January 2026.
In the most recent case, Maloney admitted the breaches and, in addition to the suspended sentence, was ordered to pay £85 in court costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
