NCL achieved the target of 140 million tonne coal production ahead of time.

New Delhi. Singrauli-based Coal India’s subsidiary Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has ahead of schedule to achieve the annual coal production target of 140 million tonnes (MT) for the current financial year 2025-26.

The company has continuously maintained its excellent performance legacy while strengthening the country’s energy security. The Coal Ministry said in a statement issued on Monday that Singrauli-based NCL, the major subsidiary of Coal India, achieved its annual target of 140 million tonnes of coal production set for the financial year 2025-26 ahead of schedule on March 30 (after the first shift).

With its 10 state-of-the-art mechanized opencast mines, NCL has maintained its legacy of consistently meeting its annual production targets for the last decade, reflecting its excellent performance.

The ministry said Northern Coalfields Limited, the major subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has emerged as an important pillar in maintaining the energy security of the country.

In the current energy scenario, domestically produced coal has once again proven itself as a reliable cornerstone of the country’s power sector.

In this context, the continuous and increased production of NCL has been extremely important in ensuring uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power plants.

Coal Ministry said that on this achievement, the management of NCL has appreciated the unwavering commitment, perseverance and tireless efforts of its team (NCL) for their dedicated efforts and cooperation of all the stakeholders.
