South District Special Staff of Delhi Police has busted a unique network of illegal liquor smuggling and arrested an accused. The special thing is that camels were being used for smuggling, so that police checking could be avoided.
This is how the accused got caught by the police
On the night of 29-30 March, the police received secret information that illegal liquor was being brought from Faridabad to Delhi through the jungle roads of Sangam Vihar. After this, the special staff took immediate action and laid a trap in the forest area of Sangam Vihar. The accused was caught when he was carrying a consignment of liquor on two camels. Police have recovered 39 cartons of illicit liquor (1,938 quarters), 2 camels used in smuggling and equipment for carrying liquor from the accused. The recovered camels were secured and handed over to the concerned department.
Was dodging by changing the route
Investigation has revealed that due to strict checking at Delhi-Faridabad border, the accused used forest paths to avoid roads and police checkpoints and this method of supplying liquor through camels was adopted to avoid the strictness under Operation Kavach. The arrested accused has been identified as Vinod Bhadana, 48, a resident of Anandpur village in Faridabad district of Haryana.
What did the police say?
According to the police, the accused has already been involved in a case to illicit liquor, in which a case has been registered under Delhi Excise Act and Animal Cruelty Act. According to DCP South District Anant Mittal, the campaign against illegal smuggling will continue and strict action will be taken to completely eliminate such networks.
