Hulsur: Basavakalyan MLA Sharanu Salgar visited villages late on Monday night following complaints that fair price shops were giving 2 kg less rice per ration card.
The complaints came from residents of Ambevadi and Hanamantwadi villages in Hulsur taluk. Acting on these, the MLA reached the villages around 11:40 pm and heard the grievances of the public on the spot.
During the visit, he spoke to the Deputy Director of the District Food Department over the phone and expressed concern over the alleged shortage. He directed that strict action be taken if any shop owner is found guilty and instructed officials to visit the locations to ensure that people do not face any inconvenience.
Residents also informed the MLA that they have to walk nearly 4 km every month to collect ration supplies. In response, he instructed officials to arrange ration distribution facilities within both villages.
