Delhi. The Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council on Tuesday expressed deep condolences on the untimely demise of British broadcast engineer John William Langford who was working with the BCCI for the 2026 season of the league. The Governing Council also assured all possible help to the bereaved family. Langford was 76 years old.
He was found unconscious in his room in a hotel in south Mumbai on Monday morning. After this the hotel management immediately took him to the hospital. An official said that doctors declared him dead upon reaching the hospital.
The IPL said in a statement, ‘The IPL Governing Council and all its stakeholders express our deepest condolences on the untimely demise of Ian Williams Langford. He was an important part of our broadcast operations. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
It said, “IPL is committed to providing all necessary help and support to Langford’s family at this very difficult time.”
Langford had come here to work as a broadcast engineer for IPL matches. Nothing suspicious was found in his post-mortem and a case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation is underway, an official from the Marine Drive police station said.
