How many times do we see a young prodigy consistently make his name throughout some of the most rigid and toughest cricket competitions around the world? It’s not so often, but the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has turned the tables and has grabbed another limelight for his brilliant 52-run knock against the five-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings, in the opening match of the Rajasthan Royals.

The young sensation made a 15-ball half-century, to only becoming the third fastest player to register a half-century in the tournament. He took down some of the biggest names in the CSK bowling lineups to score these runs. Moreover, the former Indian batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, feels that this kid is special. The kind of aggressiveness and fearlessness he brings with his batting, it is what makes him special.

During a conversation on Star Sports, Sanjay Bangar said:

“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was a class apart. He dominated a good bowling attack. He took on Matt Henry, a new ball bowler, who challenges top batters internationally. He toyed with Khaleel Ahmed, who swings the ball both ways. He got the better of Anshul Kamboj, known for hitting the deck hard with good length deliveries. He even made life difficult for mystery bowler Noor Ahmad.”

He further added that:

"At the age of 15, he dominated four quality bowlers with his fearless batting and forced them to move away from their strengths. Henry had to bowl slower balls. Khaleel had to try different things. He put pressure on all of them. That shows Vaibhav, with his fearless approach, is getting into the minds of established bowlers. I admired that quality in his innings. The start this wonder boy has had makes sure it's going to be a cracker of a season for him.”

Last year, he became the fastest centurion in the history of the IPL tournament. This year, he continued from where he left off and has been looking him in full rhythm as well. This knock in the season opener will give him a much-needed boost for the upcoming matches.

Rajasthan Royals were given a mere target of 128 runs; they achieved it in 12.1 overs. With this victory, they also achieved a significant boost in their net run rate. They will face the Gujarat Titans in their next match at Narendra Modi Stadium on April 4.
