“I never imagined so many people would relate to it and show such interest,” the 30-year-old wrote in an Instagram post on March 23, as quoted by The Korea Times. “I am just surprised and overwhelmed.”

According to figures he shared, his Instagram content recorded 67,804,452 views from Nov. 17, 2025, to Feb. 14, 2026.

“When I look at the numbers, it doesn’t feel real,” he added. “It reminds me that this is something I could never have achieved on my own.”

“Mongletoon,” which has released 51 episodes since December last year, chronicles episodes from Chun’s life. Created with the help of artificial intelligence, the webtoon features a character named “Mongle,” a white sheep representing Chun. His biological mother and older brother are also depicted as white sheep, while his grandfather Chun, his grandmother and former first lady Lee Soon Ja, and his father Chun Jae Yong are portrayed as black sheep.

Through the series, Chun recounts personal experiences, including witnessing his father’s alleged extramarital affairs, claims of domestic violence involving his grandfather, bullying he says he endured because of his family background, and his own drug use while studying in the U.S.

The first season of “Mongletoon” concluded in January. Since then, social media users have flooded his accounts with messages of support, praising his willingness to share painful experiences. Comments include, “You turned unimaginable pain into your own story,” and “Don’t try to carry the weight of the world alone.”

According to Chosun BizChun first drew national attention in March 2023 when he publicly disclosed corruption allegations involving his family through YouTube and Instagram.

In April 2024, he received a suspended sentence of two years and six months in prison, with four years probation, for repeated drug use while in the U.S.

Chun Doo Hwan, who was born in 1931 and died in 2021, was a South Korean army general who served as the country’s fifth president from 1980 to 1988 after seizing power in a military coup in 1979.
