Many important issues regarding the future of the country were raised in the recent two-day long Youth MLA Conference in Bhopal. In fact, more than 50 young MLAs from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have participated in this conference. During the conference, Ravindra Singh Bhati, independent MLA from Shiv, Rajasthan, made a direct and bold suggestion to strengthen the government education system. He has said that in today’s time we need educated Sarpanches, but the MLAs are illiterate. How will development be possible in such a situation? Bhati has raised the question that how will the country which has been given the target of becoming a developed India by 2047, be able to move forward with the trust of all its public representatives, when they remain just ‘rubber stamps’. He has emphasized that the MLAs have to study and their statements in the House should be so powerful that they are discussed in the officers’ gallery also.

Children of public representatives study in government schools

In fact, Ravindra Singh Bhati has also raised questions on the education budget. He has said that every year crores of rupees are allocated for education, but will the standard of education be improved by the collapse of one school and construction of another? Giving a big suggestion, he said that in the last assembly session, he had put forth this point in the Rajasthan Assembly that why not bring such a bill that the children of all the public representatives, i.e. MLAs, MPs and senior officials and their future generations should study in government schools. Bhati has also asked the assemblies of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh to demand a similar bill. He has asked, “Why should only the son of the poor go to a government school, our sons should also study?” He has also emphasized that there are many MLAs who go to the schools of their villages and see whether the teachers are coming on time or not. According to Bhati, the number of such MLAs is very less.

Will not call for drug addicts and illegal businesses: Gurveer Singh

At the same time, BJP MLA from Sadulshahr, Rajasthan, Gurveer Singh has expressed his views on another serious issue, which is to the future of the youth, and that is drug addiction. Actually, Gurveer Singh’s area is on the Pakistan border, from where drugs are continuously dropped through drones. He has told that youth go astray due to the greed of money, the loss of which can be seen from Gujarat, Punjab to Jammu and Kashmir. He has expressed concern that 16-17 year old children in his area are losing their lives due to injection or medicated drugs.

Gurveer Singh said, “When I became MLA, I had taken the first resolution in front of the people of Sadulshahr in front of Gurudwara Granth Sahib that as long as I am in service, not a single call of mine will go to any drug addict or illegal business. I am absolutely firm on that resolution.”

In fact, Gurveer Singh has also shared the pain of those families who have lost their children due to drug addiction. He has said that he often receives such calls from wives and parents of married boys asking for help. As soon as information is received, strict action is taken by the government and police. He has appealed to all the public representatives to forget political differences and work together against drugs.

Every election is like a market for democracy: Siddharth Kushwaha

Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Satna, Madhya Pradesh, Siddharth Kushwaha has expressed deep concern about the future of democracy. He has said that sometimes it seems whether our democracy will survive till 2047 or not. The way democracy is marketed in every election and extraordinary efforts are made to win the elections, one gets goosebumps wondering what will happen in the coming elections.

Referring to the country’s first voter, teacher Negi ji of Himachal, Kushwaha said that when crores of people vote, what are they thinking while voting. Today political parties are spending crores of rupees on contesting elections, so what will happen in the future? Is this democracy moving on the path of business? He has also said that he has seen many public representatives, who are in public service, but spend all their time in building their business. Leaving aside an hour or two, his entire focus remains on establishing himself, rather than serving the public.
