Amid the ongoing war with Iran, a message claiming an imminent nationwide lockdown has been circulating widely on social media. The claim is being shared through a PDF titled “WAR LOCKDOWN NOTICE”, designed to resemble an official government document.
The document, carrying the Ashoka Chakra symbol, appeared to be an emergency government warning. It suggested a war-related lockdown and urged people to take immediate precautions.
At first glance, the notice looked convincing enough for many users to forward it without verifying its contents, triggering concern and confusion.
Reality Behind The Document
However, upon opening the PDF, it becomes clear that the document is not an official communication. Instead, it contains a simple “April Fool’s” message along with an emoji, revealing it to be a prank.
Many who shared the message without reviewing it were later surprised to discover its actual content.
No Government Announcement On Lockdown
The message gained traction on April 1, a day commonly associated with pranks and misleading posts online. Authorities have not issued any advisory or announcement regarding a war-related lockdown.
The government has also recently clarified that there is no proposal or consideration for any kind of lockdown in the country.
How The Rumour Spread
The layout and language of the document contributed to its credibility, leading users to believe it was genuine. The incident highlights how quickly misinformation can spread, particularly when it plays on fear.
Experts advise verifying such messages through official sources before sharing them further.
