Thiruvananthapuram/Kannur | A 37-year-old man has been arrested and remanded for allegedly sending obscene messages and images to the State Women's Commission chairperson, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, Puthanveetil Jagadeesh, a native of Taliparamba in Kannur district, was arrested on March 27 and remanded to judicial custody on the next day by a court in Thiruvananthapuram, police said.
A case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has also been registered against the accused on the complaint of the commission's chairperson, advocate P Satheedevi, it said.
An officer of Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber police station, where the case is registered, said that an examination of the accused's phone revealed that he had sent similar obscene messages and images to several other women.
