A man who exposed himself to commuters and police officers with "no remorse" has been sentenced to seven months in prison. Christopher Pittar, 44, had been walking outside Derby railway station on February 26 just before 7pm, the court heard, before he carried out a sick sex offence.
The man then lay down on the floor, lifted his jacket and exposed himself with his trousers pulled down, before shouting to draw more attention to himself. A woman who saw Pittar doing this walked away from the flasher and reported him to a British Transport Police officer patrolling nearby. The sick 44-year-old of Princip Street, Birmingham, was swiftly arrested and taken into custody.
However, his disgusting behaviour continued while in custody, where he exposed himself a second time to officers and staff.
BTP Detective Sergeant Nick Tatlow said: "Pittar showed no remorse for his senseless behaviour, even repeating his actions while in custody.
"He targeted a woman with his disgusting actions, and I am thankful to her for reporting the incident so we could bring Pittar before the courts and now behind bars."
He was sentenced to seven months at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on March 18 after being found guilty of one count of exposure. He also pleaded guilty to a count of Indecent Behaviour in a Police Station.
Pittar was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for seven years and handed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). This prohibits him from entering any railway station in the UK without a valid ticket or a valid reason, and from undoing, loosening, or removing items of clothing, or from touching himself, in stations or on trains.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
DS Tatlow encouraged victims to come forward to the British Transport Police, safe in the knowledge that they would be listened to.
He said: "If you experience or witness a sexual offence on board a train or at a station, I urge you to report it to one of our officers on the network or by texting us discreetly on 61016. We take every report seriously and will stop at nothing to bring sexual offenders like Pittar to justice."
