You might have drank Lassi but have you tried its salty version i.e. buttermilk? If not then definitely drink it this summer. Buttermilk is made from curd and is rich in probiotics. Drinking this strengthens the digestive system and provides energy to the body.

Ingredients to make Masala Chaas

  • Fresh curd- 2 cups
  • Cold water- 3 to 4 cups
  • Black salt- half teaspoon
  • Rock salt- as per taste
  • Finely chopped green chillies – 3-4
  • Fresh coriander and mint leaves – a handful
  • Chaat masala – half teaspoon
  • Roasted cumin powder – 1 teaspoon

Step by Step Masala Chaas Recipe

1. Method of buttermilk masala- To make buttermilk masala, first of all you have to grind green chillies, coriander and mint leaves in a mortar. Make it like a light coarse paste.

2. Beat curd- After this, put curd in a big vessel and add some water and beat the curd well.

3.Add spices- After this, add roasted cumin powder, rock salt, salt, chaat masala and coriander-mint paste to the curd and mix.

4.Add water- In the next step, add water to curd and beat it well. When the texture of curd becomes like thin water, beat it and if needed, you can add more water.

5. Add tempering- Now after this you have to temper it, then add mustard oil and curry leaves in a tadka spoon and crackle it and add mustard seeds and crackle it. After this add in buttermilk. Your spicy tadka buttermilk is ready.

6.Serving Suggestions- Now to serve it you have to take a glass or clay pot. Put ice cubes in it and add buttermilk and sprinkle some roasted cumin on top. The best time to drink buttermilk is lunch. Include 1 glass of buttermilk in your daily lunch. This will improve your digestion and prevent dehydration.
