The first quarter of 2026 for Hindi cinema came to an end with Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge starring Ranveer Singh firing on all cylinders at the box office.

The year 2026 in the first three months saw 15 prominent Hindi movies released in theatres and out of those it is unfortunate that only three films found major success at the box office.

Only 3 Successes Out Of 15 Movies & Yet Bollywood Scored Over Rs 2000 Cr Biz

The month of January saw seven prominent releases in Hindi and out of those only two movies managed to attract the audiences in theatres.

These include Border 2 starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty which made Rs 464.50 crore at the worldwide box office.

And Mardaani 3  starring Rani Mukerji that collected Rs 78.73 crore, globally.

The other five releases – Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda’s Ikkis, Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma’s Rahu Ketu, Vir Das’ Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, Vijay Sethupathi and Arvin Swami’s Gandhi Talks and Jaaved Jaaferi’s Mayasabha flopped even though some of them received rave reviews.

The month of February saw seven releases and unfortunately none of them worked at the box office with Shahid Kapoor’s O’Romeo turning out to be biggest disappointment.

The other flops of the month included – Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta’s Vadh 2, Aasif Sheikh and Ravi Kishan’s Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run, Shanaya Kapoor and Aadarsh Gourav’s Tu Yaa Main, Taapsee Pannu’s Assi, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur’s Do Deewane Seher Mein and The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond.

And the month of March just saw one major Hindi release and it was Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The Ranveer Singh starrer made over Rs 1400 crore and is expected to make over Rs 1500 crore by the end of its lifetime run.

This takes the total box office of the first quarter of 2026 to over Rs 2000 crore despite Bollywood delivering only three successes out of 15 releases.

What To Expect From Bollywood Box Office 2026 2nd Quarter

The second quarter of 2026 will see a wide variety of releases. These include Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s Dacoit: A Love Story, Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla, Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr’s Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 in April.

The month of May will see Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji, Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi’s Ek Din, Sunny Deol’s Gabru, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Main Actor Nahin Hoon, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, Sanjay Dutt’s Aakhri Sawal, Bobby Deol’s Bandar, Milap Zaveri’s Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Lakshya and Ananya Panday’s Chand Mera Dil.

In June, Hindi cinema will see the releases like Diljit Dosanjh’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Shahid Kapoor’s Cocktail 2, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty’s Welcome To The Jungle.
